Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi yesterday affirmed that Bahrain continues to strengthen its global role in empowering young people.
She said the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals reflects Bahrain’s firm commitment to promoting international efforts towards a more sustainable future.
Ms Tawfiqi noted that the fifth edition of the award builds on previous successes and continues to evolve in line with global trends in sustainable development and technology.
She said the introduction of new categories and participation methods has expanded the award’s reach to more young people, individuals, and organisations worldwide.
The award has become an international platform that inspires youth creativity and encourages them to turn their ideas into real projects supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, the minister said.
Ms Tawfiqi highlighted the strong global response to this year’s edition. She said the King Hamad Award has become a global symbol of youth excellence and innovation in advancing sustainable development.
Ms Tawfiqi revealed that the fifth edition attracted more than 8,200 entries from more than 100 countries, showing the award’s growing international recognition as a key platform celebrating youth creativity and institutions that support them.
She added that the next stage will include reviewing and assessing all submissions before starting the judging process to select winners in two main categories: one for creative and pioneering youth, and another for youth-supporting initiatives and institutions.
