Bahrain joined the global community in marking World Diabetes Day, marked each year yesterday.
This year’s theme, ‘Diabetes and Quality of Life’, highlights the importance of early detection, preventive care and greater public understanding of the factors that increase the risk of the condition.
The observance aligns with Bahrain’s wider national drive to curb non-communicable diseases. Ongoing initiatives focus on improving clinical guidance, expanding health-promotion programmes and helping people living with diabetes manage the condition more effectively, with the ultimate aim of improving their well-being, according to a statement.
Diabetes remains a key priority for Bahrain’s health sector. A national task force dedicated to chronic non-communicable diseases has been set up to shape strategies and programmes that reduce their prevalence, particularly diabetes, and support healthier communities.
Health institutions across the kingdom are hosting awareness campaigns, educational events and workshops to encourage healthier lifestyles and strengthen public engagement with national health guidance. These efforts form part of an integrated approach aimed at advancing sustainable health development.
