In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.
The American holiday is modelled on a three-day feast shared in 1621 between the Wampanoag people and English colonists in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
This feast was a celebration of the successful harvest after a difficult first year, made possible by the help the colonists received from the Native Americans in learning to cultivate the land.
The holiday is now a major family and friends gathering. Many people use the day to reflect on the positive aspects of their lives and express gratitude for the year’s blessings.
Thanksgiving is also a national holiday celebrated in Canada, Saint Lucia, Liberia and, unofficially, in countries like Brazil and Germany. It is also observed in the Australian territory of Norfolk Island.
The Sheraton Bahrain Hotel has unveiled its plans to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving this year with a special dinner set to take place next week at its popular dining venue, WILD.
The hotel’s chefs are gearing up to create a memorable culinary experience on Thursday, November 27, from 7pm to 11pm.
“Join us for a heartwarming Thanksgiving dinner at WILD – a perfect opportunity to gather around a beautifully set table and enjoy love and laughter with family and friends,” the hotel said in a statement.

Go ‘WILD’ for Thanksgiving this year
To make the event truly unforgettable, Sheraton Bahrain’s chefs have crafted a remarkable menu featuring classic Thanksgiving favourites, infused with modern twists.
The highlight of the evening is the perfectly brined and roasted turkey, served with delightful dry fruit and bread stuffing.
Complementing this centrepiece is the ‘WILD’-spice-rubbed, slow-roasted beef prime rib, accompanied by rich cinnamon butter for an unforgettable taste sensation.
Diners will also enjoy a selection of traditional side dishes that evoke warmth and nostalgia, including creamy parmesan mashed potatoes, roasted rosemary potatoes and green beans with beef bacon.
