The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) successfully hosted a major event this week, gathering top government and private sector leaders to celebrate the growth and expansion achievements of successful Bahraini enterprises.
Attended by Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Tender Board secretary-general Jamal Al Alawi, Tamkeen chief executive officer Maha Mofeez, and Bahrain Development Bank Group CEO Dalal Al Qais, the event highlighted the robust collaboration supporting the kingdom’s startup ecosystem.
The event, which also welcomed Tamkeen board members and senior officials from both the public and private sectors, is a key collaborative initiative between the SME Development Board and the StartUp Bahrain initiative.
The SME Development Board brings together Tamkeen, the Industry and Commerce Ministry, the Bahrain Economic Development Board, the Bahrain Development Bank Group, and the Tender Board to unify support for small and medium-sized businesses.
The programme included a dynamic panel discussion featuring a distinguished group of investors, entrepreneurs and experts who explored crucial topics such as investor priorities, funding opportunities and effective growth strategies.
Panellists included prominent figures like Saudi Technology Ventures (STV) chief operating officer Luca Barbi, BECO Capital investing partner Karim Abadir, and MEVP co-founder and co-chief executive Walid Mansour. Furthermore, the programme featured presentations from several distinguished Bahraini enterprises, followed by an interactive panel where the founders of Eat App, Flooss, Lola, and Remote Apps shared their inspiring stories of growth and successful expansion into local and regional markets.
Held as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2025, an initiative of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), the event is one of a series of activities aimed at showcasing global entrepreneurial developments and engaging top experts and pioneering entrepreneurs.
Tamkeen is dedicated to making this an annual celebration, aligning with its continuous efforts to foster innovation and develop the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the kingdom. Through its dedicated initiatives and support programmes, Tamkeen helps entrepreneurs grow and scale their businesses, enhancing their entrepreneurial skills and knowledge, and securing the necessary funding to achieve success.
This aligns with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities for 2025: to enhance the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector; equip Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector; and prioritise enterprise growth, digitisation and sustainability.
