The Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry revealed that the number of officially registered marriages in the Sharia courts over the past three years reached 13,801 across all age groups, according to our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
In its response to a question by MP Jalal Kadhem, the ministry indicated that during the same period, 10,139 marriage contracts were registered between Bahraini men and women.
Statistics also show that between 2023 and 2025, 2,934 cases successfully reconciled, bringing the family reconciliation success rate to 40 per cent.
Meanwhile, 4,336 cases were referred to the competent court due to unsuccessful reconciliation.
The ministry added that documented divorce cases in the Sharia courts from the beginning of the sixth legislative term of Parliament to date totalled 5,607, including 3,969 divorces between Bahraini husbands and wives.
The divorce rate, as a proportion of registered marriage contracts since the start of the legislative term to date, stands at 6pc.
