THE eighth edition of the Nasser Bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season is set to wrap up with a closing ceremony on Saturday near the Bahrain National Museum.
The event marks the culmination of a competitive journey that has spanned more than three consecutive months since July, featuring various traditional competitions, including fishing (Haddaq), pearl diving and open-water swimming.
The 3,000m traditional rowing race for His Majesty the King’s Cup, scheduled for Saturday, will be the highlight of the season.
Artistic and folk performances, reflecting the traditional maritime environment, will also be held.
This year’s edition witnessed a record 300-plus participants of various age groups and communities from Bahrain and the GCC.
The festival is organised by the Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth).
It’s sponsored by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, with the support of SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Mawrooth chairman Khalifa bin Abdulla Al Qaoud affirmed that the generous royal support and patronage of His Majesty represent the strongest foundation for preserving maritime heritage.

Mr Al Qaoud
He praised the success of the eighth edition and expressed gratitude to Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid for their unwavering support.
