Tamkeen has been urged to introduce new programmes to support the continuity and growth of all commercial registrations, particularly startups and small enterprises facing financing challenges.
The proposal has been presented by five MPs led by Jalila Al Sayed, who has stressed the need to strengthen national support systems for emerging businesses.
“Many promising Bahraini enterprises are struggling owing to limited access to credit and growth pathways,” she said. “Our proposal ensures that every commercial registration – big or small – has a fair opportunity to survive, expand, and contribute to the economy.”
Tamkeen affirmed its commitment to supporting all eligible enterprises and highlighted existing programmes tailored to different growth stages:
- Start Your Business programme, which offers grants covering up to 50pc of startup costs.
- Business Growth programme, providing grants of up to 50pc for resources and services aimed at local and regional expansion.
- Financing Facilitation programme, which collaborates with local banks to provide financing solutions, with Tamkeen covering up to 50pc of profit costs.
The fund noted that its programmes are designed to help companies launch innovative solutions, scale operations, and generate regional exports.
Ms Al Sayed emphasised that expanding Tamkeen’s toolbox is essential to sustaining Bahrain’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.
“Tamkeen has strong programmes, but the evolving market requires additional tools tailored to today’s challenges,” she said. “This proposal pushes for more agility, more innovation and more targeted support.”
