The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca), in collaboration with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), held a musical evening on Friday, featuring the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Dr Mubarak Najem.
The concert, titled ‘Sound of Spain’, was attended by Baca president Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, alongside a wide audience of cultural enthusiasts from across Bahrain.
The evening featured a selection of pieces inspired by the finest works of Spanish music, beautifully intertwined with the richness of classical orchestral performance.
An exceptional group of international musicians, artists, and guitarists took part in the concert, delivering performances that reflected the contemporary artistic style of Maestro Dr Najem.
The evening offered a captivating artistic experience, bringing together passion, creativity, and a celebration of cultural diversity.
Maestro Dr Najem is recognised as one of the region’s leading pioneers in orchestral music, and is the founder of the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra, which brings together more than 100 musicians and choir members from Bahrain and around the world.
He holds a Doctorate in Arts and a Doctorate in the Philosophy of Folk Arts, and began his early musical studies at the Conservatoire in Egypt.
He later earned the prestigious qualification of Music Director, along with distinguished certifications from both the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music in the UK.
Today, Dr Najem serves as Director of the Police Band and continues to create works that express Bahrain’s cultural identity and carry it to the world.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has received numerous awards and honours from opera houses and cultural festivals across the Arab world and beyond.
