Al Hilal Healthcare Group and Jetour Bahrain, in association with the Bahrain Cycling Association, recently hosted the fifth edition of the Defeat Diabetes Cyclothon.
Organised as part of Diabetes Awareness Month, the event aimed to put the spotlight on diabetes prevention, early detection and the importance of adopting healthier lifestyles.
More than 800 participants from across Bahrain took part, reflecting the community’s growing commitment to health and wellness.
The event commenced at 7.30am with registration, as cyclists gathered for the ride.
This year, Jetour Bahrain was a key event partner, showcasing their vehicles at the venue to provide an engaging experience for participants and visitors, and capturing panoramic videography of the event.
Before the ride began, a short welcome ceremony was held and bouquets were presented to all guests and representatives, acknowledging their valued presence and continued support for community health initiatives.
Attendees included Al Hilal Healthcare Group’s chief executive Dr Sharath Chandran, strategy and business vice president Asif Mohammad and finance manager Sahal Jamaludeen, alongside Jetour principal dealer Manaf Kassem.
At the event, Dr Chandran said: “The Defeat Diabetes Cyclothon is more than just a ride – it is a community movement encouraging healthier living. This year’s remarkable participation, with 800 cyclists, reflects Bahrain’s strong commitment to wellness.
“I would like to thank Jetour Bahrain for joining hands with us for this great cause, as well as all the sponsors and the Bahrain Cycling Association. The cyclothon brought together families, cycling enthusiasts and community members in a shared mission to raise diabetes awareness and promote healthier habits, and the Group looks forward to further expanding the initiative in the coming years.”
The cyclothon was officially flagged off by Dr Chandran, Mr Kassem, Mr Mohammad and Mr Jamaludeen as they greeted participants at 8am. Cyclists proceeded along a safe and inclusive route suitable for all ages and experience levels.
Attendees benefited from complimentary full-body check-up coupons covering 60 tests, certificates of participation, event T-shirts, snacks and refreshments, alongside exclusive healthcare discount vouchers and giveaways.
Mr Kassem also shared his thoughts, saying: “We’re excited and honoured to support such a meaningful community initiative. I congratulate Al Hilal Healthcare Group for the excellent organisation and extend my best wishes to all participants.
“Jetour Bahrain is proud to contribute to an event that promotes unity, wellness and positive community engagement.”
Building on the success of this year’s cyclothon, Al Hilal Healthcare Group, with its 10 branches across Bahrain, aims to elevate the event to an even larger scale next year, further reinforcing its commitment to preventive healthcare and promoting a healthier community.
