Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam and Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh separately met National Audit Office (NAO) auditor general Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who presented them the 22nd NAO Annual Report for 2024-2025.
Mr Al Musallam underscored the legislative authority’s commitment to supporting and enhancing the financial and administrative oversight system, aiming to safeguard public funds and promote high-quality, efficient, and equitable performance.
He emphasised the continued efforts to work and achieve results within the framework of the rule of law, institutional governance, and the comprehensive developmental process of His Majesty King Hamad.
The Speaker also commended the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, instructing government entities to strengthen internal controls, ensure optimal use of public funds, and systematically review and address all observations outlined in the Audit Bureau’s reports, taking necessary legal measures where required.
He highlighted Parliament’s keenness to study the report meticulously, following constitutional and legal procedures, and to discuss its contents to reinforce the legislative and oversight responsibilities.
Shaikh Ahmed highlighted NAO’s proactive approach and emphasised adherence to professional standards.
The Auditor General highlighted that the support of His Majesty, along with the guidance of HRH Prince Salman has been instrumental to the NAO’s efficient performance.
Mr Al Saleh praised the NAO’s reports as a cornerstone in advancing the continuous and diligent work of government institutions, opening broader opportunities for development and innovation in the implementation of government programmes.
He also commended the efforts of Shaikh Ahmed and the NAO staff for their dedicated contributions.
Mr Al Saleh highlighted the NAO’s influential role in ensuring the efficiency and sustainability of government institutions, in line with Bahrain’s broader development and modernisation agenda under the leadership of His Majesty, and with the continued support and guidance of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
