Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry under-secretary for agriculture affairs and animal wealth Asim Abdullatif Abdulla participated in the 5th International Date Council (IDC) meeting, held in Riyadh.
He said that the meeting serves as an important platform to strengthen co-operation and exchange perspectives on key issues that advance collective efforts to develop the date sector, improve the quality of date production, and enhance its competitiveness in member states.
Mr Abdulla added that continued implementation of joint projects is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable growth in the sector.
He explained that Bahrain places great emphasis on supporting the date sector through the development of agricultural research systems, encouraging innovation in irrigation and farming technologies and adopting the best global practices in production and marketing.
These efforts improve the quality of dates and enhance their competitiveness in global markets, he pointed out.
The under-secretary noted that hosting the headquarters of the International Date Observatory in Bahrain represents a strategic step that supports exchanging expertise and launching new initiatives.
