His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday issued an edict restructuring the National Taskforce on the Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases.
The taskforce shall be restructured under the chairmanship of the Health Minister, with the following members: Health Ministry assistant under-secretary for public health; Industry and Commerce Ministry director of testing and metrology; the director of animal health at the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry; the director of the youth empowerment at the Youth Affairs Ministry; the director of climate change and sustainable development at the executive office of the Supreme Council for the Environment; the director of student activities at the Education Ministry; the director of the media office at the National Communication Centre (NCC); the head of medical services at the Primary Health Care Centres; the chief of medical staff at Government Hospitals; The consultant and head of the department of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery at the Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre; the consultant of endocrinologist, diabetologist, and obesity specialist at the King Hamad University Hospital; the vice president of the Bahrain Diabetes Society; and the president of the Bahrain Cancer Society.
The head of the non-communicable diseases group at the Public Health Directorate of the Health Ministry will serve as the rapporteur of the taskforce.
HRH Prince Salman issued another edict restructuring the National Taskforce for Combating Communicable Diseases.
The taskforce shall be restructured under the chairmanship of the Health Minister, with the following members: assistant under-secretary for public health at the Health Ministry; assistant under-secretary for educational services at the Education Ministry; director of the animal health directorate at the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry; director of the inspection directorate at the Industry and Commerce Ministry; director of the media office at the National Communication Centre; head of medical services at Primary Health Care Centres; chief of internal medicine at Government Hospitals; head of the healthcare facilities regulation department at the National Health Regulatory Authority; head of the infection control unit at the Bahrain Defence Force Royal Medical Services; chief medical officer at King Hamad University Hospital; an infectious diseases consultant from private hospitals, to be selected by the chairman of the Supreme Council of Health; and head of the therapeutic division at the health and social affairs directorate of the Interior Ministry.
The head of the communicable diseases department at the Health Ministry will serve as rapporteur of the taskforce.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also issued an edict restructuring the National Committee to Combat Smoking and All Types and Products of Tobacco, under the chairmanship of the Health Minister.
The Health Minister and the relevant authorities will implement the provisions of these edicts, following their publication in the Official Gazette.
