A 30-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly embezzling more than BD25,000 from her elderly sponsor, the Interior Ministry has announced in a statement.
The accused, identified as Asian by the ministry, was arrested by the Northern Police.
She allegedly electronically transferred funds from her sponsor's bank to her personal account, according to the statement.
Legal measures are being taken and the case will be referred to the Public Prosecution.
