Legal measures have been taken against nine social media accounts that have been found to have allegedly violated the law.
The Interior Ministry announced that the Anti-Cyber Crimes Directorate of the General Directorate for Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security had taken the necessary measures following monitoring of content that ‘attempted to incite discord and hatred among citizens, in a manner that threatened civil peace’.
The Directorate noted that reposting such content, or supporting it through approving comments, exposes individuals to legal accountability.
It stressed the importance of responsible use of social media platforms, enhancing public awareness and safeguarding the community from the dangers of misuse, while adhering to the law and upholding the authentic traditions and values of Bahraini society.
