The Shura Council has hailed the 46th GCC Summit – the Bahrain Summit – as a historic success.
The event showcased unity among Gulf leaders and set a clear roadmap for deeper regional co-operation, it said.
In a statement delivered yesterday by Shura Council secretary-general Kareema Al Abbasi, the upper chamber expressed ‘highest appreciation’ for the outcomes of the summit, held on December 3 under the presidency of His Majesty King Hamad.
According to the statement, the balanced resolutions adopted during the summit, along with the Sakhir Declaration, reflected strategic clarity and renewed consensus on strengthening the GCC’s collective journey.
The declaration, the council said, marked ‘a significant step towards enhancing joint Gulf action, reinforcing economic integration and supporting vital pathways linked to sustainable development, security and stability across the region’.
The Shura Council highlighted the ‘unity and cohesion’ demonstrated by Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC states, praising their shared commitment to expanding partnerships and deepening co-operation in high-priority sectors.
“The summit reaffirmed the collective determination to advance food security, renewable energy, digital economy, infrastructure and logistics development and cybersecurity,” the statement added.
The council paid tribute to the address delivered by His Majesty.
The King’s remarks, especially on economic integration, Gulf security and protection of international navigation, and the kingdom’s firm position on the Palestinian cause, were described as ‘a clear roadmap for a more prosperous future for the peoples of the GCC’.
The statement stressed that the Bahrain Summit represents ‘a pivotal milestone in the GCC’s co-operative journey’, emphasising that Bahrain’s assumption of the presidency of the new session strengthens the kingdom’s leading role in advancing shared initiatives and collective achievements.
The council was notified about written responses by ministers on questions submitted by members. The legislators were also notified about a foreign participation in Rome, Italy last month by second vice-chairwoman Dr Jihad Al Fadhel.
