Bahrain is committed to strengthening its healthcare sector by adopting the latest scientific and technological developments across diverse medical specialties, Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa said yesterday.
The aim is to provide high-quality healthcare services and enhance the efficiency of the national healthcare system, he said during a meeting with World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr Hanan Hassan Balkhi at Gudaibiya Palace.
The meeting was held on the occasion of Dr Balkhi’s visit to the kingdom’s Southern Governorate, to present the municipality with the WHO’s accreditation certificate as a ‘Healthy Governorate’.
HRH Prince Salman emphasised that improving treatment and rehabilitation services, and implementing leading global practices, are key priorities for the kingdom.
He noted that the completion of the accreditation of the kingdom’s four governorates as Healthy Governorates within the WHO’s Healthy Cities initiative, reflects the advanced levels of Bahrain’s health sector.
It also underscores Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to promoting public health, he said.
HRH the Deputy King commended the dedicated efforts of the kingdom’s healthcare sector.
He highlighted the vital role of the WHO in supporting international efforts to address health challenges and strengthen co-operation in the fields of prevention and treatment.
He stated that Bahrain’s strong partnership with the organisation contributes to the continued development of national healthcare plans in line with international standards.
HRH the Deputy King underscored the importance of exchanging expertise with international organisations to bolster the preparedness of health systems, reiterating the kingdom’s commitment to ongoing development in support of public health.
Dr Balkhi expressed her appreciation to HRH Prince Salman for supporting Bahrain’s partnership with the WHO.
She noted the importance of these efforts in advancing shared health objectives. Dr Balkhi wished the kingdom continued progress and prosperity.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Health president Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and several senior officials also attended the meeting.
