INFORMATION and eGovernment Authority (iGA) chief executive officer Mohamed Ali Al Qaed has welcomed AWS’ plan to introduce Amazon Bedrock, one of the world’s leading solutions for generative artificial intelligence (AI), in Bahrain.
The move supports the kingdom’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its leadership in technology and smart governance and its strategic vision of becoming a regional centre for AI and digital transformation.
Mr Al Qaed explained that the initiative aligns with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and the National AI Policy, while adhering to the highest standards of data protection and privacy. “The service will enable public and private entities to benefit from secure, ready-to-use models that support the development of innovative generative AI solutions. These will help boost operational efficiency and improve service quality, especially in Arabic, with a high level of accuracy,” Al Qaed added.
He said that Amazon Bedrock will be integrated into the government AWS cloud in Bahrain, giving entities early access and simplifying the adoption of these advanced capabilities.
Mr Al Qaed highlighted that Amazon Bedrock offers a sophisticated platform that allows organisations to use the latest generative AI models to build intelligent applications capable of analysing data, generating content, and powering efficient virtual assistants, without needing complex technical infrastructure.
“The iGA’s partnership with AWS is driven from the company’s global expertise in cloud computing and its strong standards for security, reliability, and scalability. This collaboration will help accelerate digital transformation, enhance service delivery, and support AI-driven innovation in line with leading international practices”, Mr Al Qaed said.
He highlighted that offering Amazon Bedrock in Bahrain will bring several key benefits, including improving government performance, strengthening institutional innovation, supporting better decision-making, and expanding the use of artificial intelligence across national digital initiatives. It will also reinforce Bahrain’s status as a regional leader in digital transformation and demonstrate its commitment to advancing responsible AI adoption for citizens, residents, and businesses.
