Interior Minister and ministerial committee overseeing the implementation of the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Citizenship (Bahrainouna) chairman General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday met Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) board of trustees vice president and Arab Think Tanks and Cultural Centres Alliance board of trustees chairman Dr Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi.
The minister expressed his appreciation for the role of research centres in producing distinguished studies and contributing to the realistic, evidence-based formulation of public policies, thereby enhancing positive engagement with contemporary challenges.
Dr Al Suwaidi presented the minister with a copy of his latest publication, The Artificial Womb: A World Beyond Human Reproduction, a serious scholarly work that addresses the ethical, religious, and value-based dimensions of this transformation, as well as the approaches of Arab and Islamic societies to these technologies and the legislative frameworks governing their use.
Gen Shaikh Rashid noted the book’s contribution to strengthening scientific and intellectual awareness and to establishing sound foundations for safeguarding national values and noble ethical principles when addressing challenges related to the use of modern technologies.
He also stressed the importance of intensifying research and studies to proactively engage with emerging technological developments.
