A dedicated youth centre could be set up in Wadi Al Sail, in Southern Governorate, if MPs have their way.
The proposal has been submitted by Dr Ali Al Nuaimi, who has urged the government to create a youth facility offering sports, cultural and social programmes to empower young people and harness their talents.
“Wadi Al Sail currently lacks a youth centre despite having a large and active youth population,” he said.
“This project is about investing in young people, providing them with a safe, structured environment to develop their skills, creativity and sense of belonging.”
The Youth Affairs Ministry noted that the Southern Governorate already hosts nine youth empowerment centres and a specialised centre. It, however, acknowledged the need to enhance youth services and integration between the centres.
The Southern Municipal Council supported the plan, highlighting the centre’s potential role in nurturing sports and cultural talent and strengthening community ties.
Parliament’s services committee recommended approval of the proposal, describing it as justified and aligned with broader youth development goals.
