LOW-INCOME families in Bahrain have received a New Year gift of increased cost-of-living allowances.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday ordered the Social Development Ministry to increase financial support for low-income families through the cost-of-living allowance, effective this month.
The decision is in line with the Royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad, reflecting his vision for comprehensive development with citizens at its core.
It also aligns with HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s commitment to developing social services and strengthening welfare programmes for low-income households, in line with the government’s priority to enhance living standards and support citizens.
The ministry shall complete all necessary procedures to implement the order and disburse the revised allowances as follows:
• Increasing the allowance to BD130 per month for families where the primary income earner earns less than BD300 per month.
• Increasing the allowance to BD97 per month for families where the primary income earner earns between BD301 and BD700 per month.
• Increasing the allowance to BD75 per month for families where primary income earner earns between BD701 and BD1,000 per month.
