The Interior Ministry last night announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with an attempted bombing and arson targeting an ATM of a national bank in Al Nuaim.
The suspects, identified as Hassan Kadhem Abdulkarim, 19, and Ali Ibrahim Abdulhussain, 23, were apprehended by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science. Authorities said the first suspect entered the site, poured a flammable substance, and placed a gas cylinder with the intent to cause an explosion.
The second suspect assisted by inspecting the location beforehand and purchasing equipment used in the crime.
Investigations revealed that the operation involved detailed planning, co-ordination, and role distribution.
Hassan Kadhem reportedly bought two gas cylinders and tape and filmed the incident after execution.
Following forensic analysis and evidence collection at the scene, investigators identified and arrested the suspects. Legal proceedings have begun, and both individuals have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Authorities confirmed that search and investigation efforts are ongoing.
