Bahrain is closely monitoring developments in Yemen and has expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions and the ensuing internal developments that undermine Yemen’s sovereignty and independence and threaten regional security and stability.
The kingdom called on the Yemeni people to exercise sound judgement, restraint, and to cease further escalation, in the interest of restoring and maintaining security and stability in Yemen.
A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry said Bahrain welcomed the Yemeni initiative to convene a comprehensive conference bringing together all southern components to discuss fair solutions to the southern issue.
The ministry described the initiative as a positive step towards adopting dialogue and diplomatic solutions.
The statement said that such efforts could contribute to a political settlement of the current crisis that safeguards the vital interests of the Yemeni people, fulfils their aspirations for security, stability and development, preserves regional security and stability, and aligns with the aspirations of the peoples of the region for peace, stability and prosperity.
