His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was yesterday briefed on plans to develop the Bahrain Defence Force’s (BDF) Royal Guard and equip it with advanced weapons and capabilities.
National Security Adviser, Royal Guard Commander and Supreme Defence Council secretary general Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Royal Guard’s Special Operations Commander Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa made the presentation to His Majesty during his visit to the Royal Guard as part of ongoing visits to BDF units.
The visit was attended by BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
His Majesty was received by Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser, Col Shaikh Khalid, BDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Deputy Royal Guard Commander Major General Hamad Khalifa Al Nuaimi, and senior officers.
The national anthem was played, after which His Majesty inspected the parade.
The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a poem recited by Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser.
The King then visited the Royal Guard Special Operations Museum.
The King expressed appreciation to Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser, Col Shaikh Khalid and all members of the Royal Guard, as well as to their colleagues across all units of the BDF. He also congratulated them on the New Year.
