The Coastguard seized 1,191 illegal fishing tools in December last year, including 1,020 unauthorised fish traps (gargoor) and 171 nets, as part of efforts to protect Bahrain’s marine resources.
Officials confirmed that legal measures have been taken against violators.
The inspections are part of an intensive campaign aimed at ensuring compliance with fishing laws and regulations, while safeguarding the kingdom’s marine environment and natural resources, the Interior Ministry said.
The Coastguard called on all fishermen to adhere to the laws and regulations.
