A delegation from the Secretariat General of Azerbaijan National Assembly led by Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Chief of Staff Farid Hajiyev attended an introductory programme on digital transformation projects and initiatives, the green parliament and the use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary work, implemented by the Parliament Secretariat General, as part of its parliamentary visit to Bahrain.
Parliament Secretary-General Mohammed Al Buainain, was present.
Following the screening of an introductory video highlighting the Parliament’s achievements and its key legislative and oversight roles, Quality Development and Assurance expert Ghassan Ibrahim Maki delivered a detailed presentation on the Green Parliament and environmental sustainability.
He outlined the stages through which the Secretariat General obtained ISO 14001:2015 certification for the Environmental Management System, noting that Parliament is the first parliament in the region and worldwide to receive this international certification.
The delegation was also briefed on the mechanisms for integrating artificial intelligence into parliamentary work, as well as the advanced digital programmes launched by the Secretariat General, which has become one of the first legislative bodies globally to obtain ISO 42001:2023 certification for the Artificial Intelligence Management System.
Information Technology Directorate Director Jassim Al Gannas then reviewed the aspects of digital transformation at the Parliament, highlighting the role of electronic systems in supporting legislative performance.
He explained how these systems help save time and resources, facilitate research and data access and outlined the operation of the electronic minutes system and the interactive electronic meeting system (eMeeting++).
The delegation commended Parliament’s pioneering experiences and the Secretariat General’s international achievements in digital transformation, the green parliament and artificial intelligence initiatives.
They highlighted the importance of benefiting from successful experiences and continuing co-operation and the exchange of expertise to strengthen relations between Parliament and Azerbaijan Milli Majlis.
