His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Bapco Energies chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, attended the opening ceremony of “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026”, the global platform for accelerating sustainability, held under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go” at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre “ADNEC”.
The opening was attended by the UAE President Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and a number of heads of state, heads of government and representatives, as well as experts and specialists in sustainability from around the world.
Shaikh Nasser said that Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a pivotal international platform for enhancing co-operation between governments, the private sector and the international community, contributing to a faster transition towards a more sustainable future through the exchange of experiences, integration of efforts, and the development of practical solutions that support energy security.
He commended the UAE’s leading role in supporting sustainability and climate action at regional and international levels, and its outstanding efforts in organising and hosting this global event.
The opening ceremony began with the UAE national anthem, followed by a film highlighting the role of integration between systems and sectors in building a sustainable future. UAE Industry and Advanced Technology Minister and Masdar Chairman Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber delivered a speech on the occasion.
Shaikh Mohammed honoured the winners of the Zayed Sustainability Prize.
Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 aims to chart a roadmap for advancing global progress and connecting global goals with leaders of positive change, focusing on developing the clean energy sector in the coming phase, expanding financing, formulating innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence, and ensuring comprehensive transformations.
