A number of ambassadors and diplomats visited the falconry competitions as part of the 11th edition of the Nasser Bin Hamad Falconry and Hunting Season.
They watched the exciting competitions, which embody one of the oldest traditional sports deeply rooted in Bahraini heritage.
The visit was attended by ambassadors Andrea Catalano, Italy; Alexey Skosyrev, Russia; Henning Simon, Germany; Saqib Rauf, Pakistan; and Mohammad Sarower, Bangladesh, along with diplomats from the embassies of the US, France and China.
They were briefed on the competitions and their high level of precision and skill, reflecting the deep connection of Bahraini society to falconry as an integral part of national identity and cultural heritage.
The diplomats also listened to a detailed explanation by Bahraini Committee for Traditional Sports board of directors member and Nasser Bin Hamad Falconry and Hunting Season chairman Mohammed bin Ayedh Al Marri.
His presentation covered the history of falconry in Bahrain, the various competition categories, the types of falcons participating and the organisational efforts undertaken to preserve this rich heritage and pass it on to future generations.
The ambassadors and diplomats praised the excellent organisation and high technical level of the competitions, emphasising the importance of these events in promoting cultural exchange, showcasing Bahrain’s rich heritage, and serving as a cultural bridge for communication between peoples.
The Nasser Bin Hamad Falconry and Hunting Season, organised by the committee, is one of the most prominent sporting and cultural events in Bahrain. It contributes to preserving the kingdom’s wildlife heritage and reinforcing the role of traditional sports in public awareness.
