GEOSPATIAL information systems have become a key tool in supporting decision-making, improving planning efficiency and developing government services, Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) president Bassem Al Hamer has said.
The SLRB continues to implement strategic projects aimed at developing geospatial infrastructure, including the development of national three-dimensional maps and the establishment of unified digital platforms to link geospatial data with government systems, thereby enhancing the efficiency of land and real estate management, he said.
Mr Al Hamer announced the launch of the Geospatial Platform, an integrated digital platform as he addressed the Bahrain Geospatial Convention 2026 yesterday.
The platform aims to unify and facilitate the exchange of geospatial data among relevant entities, enabling wider access to accurate information and allowing all stakeholders to utilise this data effectively in strategic decision-making processes and in support of digital transformation pathways.
The convention witnessed the participation of senior officials from the public and private sectors as well as more than 250 specialists and participants.
The convention was organised by MicroCenter Group, in co-operation with Esri Bahrain, and focused on supporting national efforts to enhance the use of geospatial information systems to advance digital transformation and sustainable development, in line with the objectives of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
A number of government and academic entities are participating in the conference, including the SLRB, the Information and eGovernment Authority, Electricity and Water Authority, Bahrain Space Agency, and Arabian Gulf University, alongside global companies.
