The Joint Higher Committee between Bahrain and Kuwait held its 12th meeting, chaired by Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdulla Ali Al Yahya.
Dr Al Zayani noted the longstanding relations between the two countries and people, and their development under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad and Kuwaiti Amir Shaikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
Dr Al Zayani expressed appreciation to the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister for his commitment to enhancing co-operation between the two countries across various domains. He underscored the importance of strengthening relations based on shared values, kinship, religion and shared interests.
He highlighted the importance of continued co-operation, co-ordination and consultation between the two ministries of foreign affairs on current regional and international issues, their implications for regional security and stability, and matters affecting the interests of the countries in the region.
He also underlined the importance of co-ordination and joint co-operation within the framework of the GCC, particularly during Bahrain’s current presidency of the Council, in a manner that supports its work and contributes to achieving its objectives.
He further highlighted co-ordination in the context of Bahrain’s non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, including benefiting from the diplomatic experience of Kuwait during its membership in 2018-2019.
On his part, Mr Al Yahya expressed pride in the longstanding relations between the two countries, in line with the directives of the leaderships of both countries.
He expressed hope that the outcomes of the meeting would contribute to strengthening co-operation.
The two sides discussed progress achieved across various sectors and means to further develop co-operation, particularly in investment, financial, commercial and development domains. They also discussed enhancing political co-ordination and consultation in international forums.
Following the meeting, Mr Al Yahya visited the Al Madar Centre at the Foreign Ministry, where he was briefed on the centre’s work in monitoring regional and international developments and preparing political reports and analyses.
