Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani received US Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker who is in the kingdom to take part in the political consultations between Bahrain and the US.
The meeting reviewed the long-standing ties and strategic partnership between the kingdom and the US and means to enhance co-operation in areas of mutual interest under existing agreements, including the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA).
Both sides exchanged views on regional and international developments and efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, including initiatives linked to the establishment of the Board of Peace, chaired by US President Donald Trump and aimed at advancing peace and reconstruction in Gaza.
They also discussed means to enhance co-operation and co-ordination on regional and international issues before the United Nations Security Council, within the framework of the kingdom’s membership of the Council for the 2026-2027 term, in support of efforts to maintain international peace and security.
Dr Al Zayani and the US Under-Secretary signed a framework for co-operation on critical minerals, aimed at enhancing the global supply security of these key resources, with a focus on co-operation in mining, processing, refining, investment and policy co-ordination, to support transparent and stable supply chains.
