A rapidly emerging landscape of technology driven by artificial intelligence (AI), which is seen as a major disruptive factor, will not replace the professional expertise of accountants, a forum heard.
This was the key takeaway from an event organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), Bahrain Chapter, held at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa.
The event, titled ‘Sustainability and Innovation: How Finance and Other Professions Shape the Future’, featured Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) board chairman Shaikh Ebrahim bin Khalifa Al Khalifa as the chief guest.
“A close co-operation between ICAP and the Bahrain Accountants Association (BAA) will pave the way for training the next generation of accountants.
“The emergence of AI should not be seen as a challenge; rather, it can complement the training of the next generation of accountants,” said BAA chairman Abbas Radhi. The event concluded with an awards ceremony for ICAP members.
