The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) has announced its 2026 plan, launching a new strategic phase focused on directing support towards areas with the highest economic impact.
The plan links the development of Bahraini skills with labour market needs and aims to accelerate private-sector growth, building on the strong results achieved in 2025.
According to the 2026 plan published in the Official Gazette, support programmes will focus on three main tracks: employment and career development for Bahrainis, advanced skills development and support for the establishment and growth of enterprises to enhance productivity.
The plan also includes expanded digital transformation, the use of artificial intelligence to speed up disbursement and verification procedures, and the launch of a unified electronic platform to improve beneficiary experience.
Programmes supporting the development of Bahraini talent will account for around 39 per cent of new allocations, followed by support for business establishment and growth at about 22pc, and initiatives to develop the labour market environment at around 12pc, alongside financing tools and unemployment-related commitments.
Tamkeen’s 2025 performance included more than 44,000 support opportunities for the employment and training of Bahrainis, assistance to more than 8,600 enterprises, financing loans worth approximately BD43 million, and more than 11,000 inspection visits.
