The Cabinet yesterday reviewed the availability of consumer goods in the market and the stability of their prices.
The weekly session was chaired by Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa at Gudaibiya Palace.
It commended efforts of the Industry and Commerce Ministry, Bahrain Chamber and the commercial sector.
These efforts were acknowledged for ensuring price stability and the steady supply of consumer goods during the holy month.
A pledge has also been signed to ensure affordable food will be flowing from growers and suppliers to fill the shelves of supermarkets and cold stores in the coming weeks.
The aim is to reassure families that they can carry on planning traditional feasts when breaking their fasts and gathering together throughout Ramadan.
The virtual gathering, organised by Bahrain Chamber’s Food Sector Committee, was attended by entrepreneurs and store owners.
The event was timely as the holy month is expected to start next week depending on moon sighting.
Bahrain Chamber’s Food Sector Committee chairman Khalid Al Amin said more than 200 traders had signed the pledge.
