A Bahraini vessel carrying a 20‑year‑old citizen and two Asian crew members, aged 36 and 38, was attacked by pirates near the kingdom’s northern maritime border, the Coastguard announced yesterday.
According to the statement, the operations room immediately co-ordinated with the relevant authorities upon receiving the report.
“The pirates removed the seamen from their boat and took them into Iranian territorial waters. They seized the boat’s contents before returning the men to their vessel three hours after the incident occurred,” the Coastguard added.
It affirmed that the incident is currently under investigation.
