Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa received members of the organising committee of the Bahrain Open Tennis Challenger, chaired by Supreme Organising Committee chairman and General Supervisor of the tournament Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa as well as Interior Ministry personnel who won in the seventh edition of the Government Innovation Competition (Fikra).
Deputy Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Adel Al Fadhel, Police Chief Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan and Interior Ministry Under-Secretary Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa were present.
The minister praised the outstanding organisational and sporting level demonstrated during the fifth edition of the Bahrain Open Tennis Challenger, which concluded on February 1 at the Police Officers Club.
He noted that the tournament has become one of the distinguished sporting events in Bahrain and internationally, qualifying it to win the 2025 Best Challenger 125 Tournament Award at the international level.
General Shaikh Rashid affirmed that the tournament’s continuity through five successive editions reflects its success and confirms that it is progressing on the right path, built on excellence, confidence in performance and key indicators demonstrating the organisers’ capability to fulfil responsibilities and maintain high standards.
He praised the role of the Supreme Organising Committee chairman and General Supervisor, along with all committee members, the director of the Police Officers Club and staff for their integrated efforts that contributed to the tournament’s success.
The minister also praised Fikra, launched by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which aims to enhance creativity and innovation among public sector employees and provide them with opportunities to compete by presenting effective proposals to enhance government performance.
General Shaikh Rashid congratulated the ministry’s winners in the seventh edition for their project Takamul by Captain Abdulla Waheed Al Mannai and Alaa Ahmed Al Balooshi, commending their innovative solutions and sense of national responsibility, which reflect a culture of innovation and development and patriotic spirit.
