The Foreign Ministry has followed with deep concern with the co-ordinates lists and map deposited by Iraq with the United Nations, and what they contained in terms of infringement upon the sovereignty of Kuwait over its maritime areas and its fixed and stable maritime elevations in relation to Iraq, including Fasht Al Qaid and Fasht Al A’aij.
The ministry affirms the full sovereignty of Kuwait over its maritime areas and maritime elevations, and expresses its categorical rejection of any claims by other parties to sovereignty over them.
The ministry urged Iraq to take into consideration the course of historical relations between Kuwait and Iraq, and their people, and to act in a responsible manner in accordance with the rules and principles of international law in a manner consistent with the understandings, agreements and bilateral memoranda of understanding between the two countries.
