The parliamentary committee investigating employment issues will meet tomorrow at the Labour Ministry with officials from the Vacancies and Employment Department and the grievances unit.
Discussions will focus on procedures for closing job-seeker files, suspending unemployment benefits and the electronic system used to process and reject grievances.
Committee chairperson Jaleela Al Sayed called for the ministry’s technical team to provide a trial account for the National Employment Platform to enable the committee review the hiring process from application to completion.
The team is also expected to submit data on rejected cases and the reasons behind the rejections, along with job descriptions for staff in the departments concerned with vacancies, employment, and job-seekers.
The committee said the meeting aims to strengthen transparency, ensure legal compliance, protect applicants’ rights and assess the effectiveness of the electronic grievances system as part of its ongoing probe, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
