Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa chaired the 293rd meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects.
The committee praised the efforts of Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) president Kamal Ahmed and his notable contributions to government work as part of Team Bahrain through the roles and responsibilities he has undertaken across various national positions. The committee also praised his active role in supporting the work of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects.
The committee reviewed the 2023-2026 strategic plan of the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions and examined its operational performance indicators for 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to develop the engineering sector, enhance the efficiency of its workforce and ensure the quality of its outputs.
The committee also discussed a report by the taskforce responsible for providing infrastructure and related services within approved plans across all regions of the kingdom, and reviewed the Works Ministry’s project quality assurance programme.
The committee followed up on progress in relocating scrap materials to the new site in Hafeera Area (Block 959), and the implementation steps taken to ensure the process complies with regulatory requirements.
The committee discussed developments in the system for detecting changes and building violations using artificial intelligence technologies, which aims to enhance proactive oversight and accurately identify infringements.
The committee also reviewed updates on the historical area of the Manama Suq redevelopment project.
