Remote learning has been activated from today until further notice in all public and private schools, early childhood institutions and other higher education centres.
This was announced by the Education Ministry which said the decision was taken as ‘a temporary precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students’.
“All institutions are required to ensure the continuity of the education process and the regular attendance of students through approved digital platforms,” said a Ministry statement.
The move will help ease concerns of parents and children, as well as teachers and administrators, worried about developments.
Online tutoring was successfully implemented during the height of the global Covid-19 pandemic so experience of what to expect will be well known to many in the community.
Education institutions can contact the Ministry’s Communication and Attachés Directorate if they require any technical support in implementing the transition to remote learning or to obtain clarification regarding any inquiries related to the academic schedule.
They can also contact on WhatsApp at +17873372 or via the Ministry’s official website www.moe.gov.bh
Bahrain School yesterday in a message posted to parents also confirmed that due to the current situation there will be no ‘in-person’ classes for the rest of this week.
The institution is affiliated to the US Department of Defence Dependents Schools.
Furthermore, remote work policy at the rate of 70 per cent across all ministries and government entities was announced by the Civil Service Bureau yesterday.
It excludes sectors that require in-person attendance or have ‘special procedures’ during emergencies, in accordance with public safety requirements.
The Labour Ministry, meanwhile, announced that training programmes at private training institutions will be delivered remotely starting today and until further notice, as a precautionary measure and in order to ensure the safety of trainees.
These institutions are required to ensure the continuity of professional and technical training programmes and maintain regular participation of enrolled trainees through approved digital platforms, it said.
