Firefighters last night dealt with multiple blaze extinguishing operations in buildings located in and around Manama and Muharraq that were struck by Iranian drones and debris from an intercepted missile.
An individual was treated for smoke inhalation, the Interior Ministry said last night.
It added that the first building was evacuated and the blaze contained, while firefighting operations were continuing at the second site.
Material damage to the third building caused by falling debris from an intercepted missile was also being cleared.
Bahrain Television last night aired footage of an operation which showed firefighters and paramedics rushing to a site where a high-rise tower was up in flames.
It showed rescue teams moving through the rubble to contain the fire.
A residential building was first hit by a drone last night in Hoora with some of its top floors gutted.
Following this firefighters were seen tackling a blaze at a residential tower in Seef District.
Several videos showed fallen debris around the sites while other footage showed drones hovering around Juffair and in Muharraq.
Hidd Councillor Mohammed Al Meghawi joined emergency crews last night after a home and a number of cars were damaged in his constituency.
“There is a commitment to protect lives and security and police forces are working with us to ensure that,” he said. “The measures taken are effective and will continue being so with people’s co-operation.”
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in one of its alerts said that its government had ‘determined that broader Juffair area, and high-rise buildings in Bahrain, are not safe for US personnel’.
The US Embassy added that it was aware of unconfirmed social media reports of US citizens in Bahrain being targeted by Iran and its proxies.
