The Shura Council has strongly condemned the ‘heinous Iranian attacks’ targeting Bahrain and several Gulf countries, stressing that the kingdom remains united behind the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad.
Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh said the kingdom would remain strong and resilient despite escalating regional tensions.
The session was held in a hybrid format yesterday, with Mr Al Saleh and his two deputies present in the council chamber while the remaining 37 members participated online.
Mr Al Saleh said Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, continues to pursue a path based on wisdom, moderation and support for peace.
“Bahrain will remain strong with its leadership, cohesive through its people, and firmly rooted through its institutions,” he said. “The kingdom is capable of overcoming challenges, no matter how great they may be.”
His remarks came as the region faces what he described as ‘dangerous developments’, referring to Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting civilian sites and private properties.
Mr Al Saleh said the Shura Council strongly condemned and denounced the attacks, describing them as a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and a serious threat to regional security and stability.
“These hostile acts represent a grave breach of international law and the principles of good neighbourliness,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the council, Mr Al Saleh affirmed full support for the leadership of His Majesty and the measures being taken by Bahrain to safeguard national security and protect its sovereignty.
He added that Bahrain retained its legitimate right to respond in accordance with international laws and conventions.
Mr Al Saleh also praised the close monitoring of developments by the King, saying it reflected the leadership’s commitment to strengthening national readiness and safeguarding the country’s stability.
He commended the role of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, for overseeing the situation with wisdom and competence.
Mr Al Saleh said the Crown Prince’s directives had strengthened the readiness of government entities, ensured continuity of essential services and reinforced national security and stability.
He also praised HRH Prince Salman’s order for the government to cover damages sustained by citizens’ homes as a result of the attacks.
“This directive reflects His Royal Highness’s direct concern for the safety and well-being of citizens and his commitment to providing them with the necessary support in all circumstances,” he said.
Mr Al Saleh expressed pride in the BDF’s ability to confront the attacks ‘with high efficiency and constant vigilance’.
He also commended the efforts of the Interior Ministry and security authorities in maintaining public order and reassuring the public.
He urged citizens and residents to follow official instructions and rely on verified information from official sources.
“It is essential to avoid rumours and ensure that information is obtained from reliable official channels in order to preserve social security and stability,” he added.
