BAHRAIN joined the international community in celebrating International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8, highlighting women’s issues and rights while affirming their pivotal role as key partners in development and building a more prosperous and sustainable future.
This year’s global observance, held under the United Nations theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For all women and girls,” focuses on taking practical steps to remove barriers to equality.
These efforts include addressing discriminatory laws and social norms that can limit the advancement of women and girls worldwide.
Marking the occasion, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) commended Bahrain’s dedicated efforts to protect women’s rights and create a legislative environment that supports gender equality.
The NIHR lauded the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) for its role in empowering Bahraini women and ensuring they remain key partners in the nation’s development.
The NIHR also reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to monitoring Bahrain’s alignment with international treaties. By tracking these commitments, the institution aims to further strengthen protections for women and ensure these rights continue to support the kingdom’s comprehensive development process.
