Photographs have been released from a popular community gathering that took place before schools had to be closed amid the regional crisis.
St Christopher’s School welcomed families and friends from across Bahrain for the annual ‘Iftar in the Park’ held at its Saar campus, an event that has quickly become one of the most anticipated evenings in the school calendar.
Now in its fourth year, the event, held last month, once again proved a ‘tremendous success’, selling out all 1,200 tickets and bringing together the wider community for a memorable evening of reflection, celebration and togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan, said a school statement.
Set against the backdrop of the school’s Saar campus, guests enjoyed a vibrant Ramadan suq, a delicious buffet and a wide range of games and activities for children. The programme of performances showcased the remarkable talent and cultural richness of the St Chris community.
The evening began with a warm welcome, followed by a moving Qur’an recitation by Naser (Year 11) and the Azan delivered by Zuhier (Year 9), creating a powerful and reflective atmosphere as families prepared to break their fast together.
Musical performances formed the heart of the programme. Highlights included a soulful Oud performance by Meldine (Year 12), and a series of uplifting year-group performances including Ya Esfory (Year 1), Mohammed Nabina (Year 2), Who Is Your God (Year 3), and Tala’a Al Bader (Year 5). Traditional Gergaoun dances performed by Year 4 and Year 6 girls, alongside the Farisa dance by Year 6 boys, added energy and colour to the celebrations.
A poignant Ramadan poem by Dana (Year 9) captured the spirit of the evening, while the much-anticipated Ramadan Runway brought the programme to a joyful and celebratory close.
Principal Simon Watson said: “Iftar in the Park has become a very special tradition at St Chris. Seeing so many members of the wider community come together on our Saar campus to share this moment during Ramadan was genuinely moving.
“It’s evenings like this that remind us that St Chris is so much more than just a school,” he added.
A special thank you was extended to the event’s sponsors, namely Falcon Sponsor – National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) and Palm Sponsor – ACE Gallagher. Their generous support helped ensure the continued success of this much-loved community event.
