Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure.
The committee stressed His Majesty King Hamad’s remarks represent a comprehensive reference to consolidating values of loyalty and belonging, unifying internal ranks in confronting challenges and defending the sovereignty of the kingdom.
They highlighted that it safeguards national achievements and continues the comprehensive development process under the leadership of the King, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
In implementation of the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister issued at last week’s meeting, the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry announced that it had completed the closure of the uncovered agricultural drainage channel in Hamala in co-ordination with the Works Ministry, and had begun identifying similar cases in order to address them.
The committee expressed its wishes for the kingdom’s success in its candidacy for membership in the Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the upcoming term.
It also commended the council’s adoption, by consensus and without a vote, of a joint resolution on the impact of attacks on civilian communications and information technology infrastructure in Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE and Jordan, and their implications for regional and global connectivity.
The committee also congratulated the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry on completing the registration of DHL Air Bahrain, which will establish its headquarters in the kingdom.
It also noted the ministry’s organisation of a joint workshop with Saudi Arabia to review rail sector legislation and the Saudi experience, in support of the Gulf railway project.
It welcomed the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry’s development of the ‘Housing Application Allocation’ service, which has been transformed into a fully automated internal digital procedure preceding electronic contract issuance, as part of ongoing government efforts toward comprehensive digital transformation across services to facilitate procedures and improve service delivery to citizens.
On the occasion of Bahraini Press Day, which falls on May 7 annually, the committee congratulated official and private media institutions in the kingdom, expressing appreciation for the role of national media professionals and their efforts in highlighting the committee’s work and showcasing development achievements and infrastructure projects across various sectors.
The committee then reviewed items on its agenda, including the latest developments in the Bahrain Halal system in its first phase, as well as updates on the delivery of treated water networks across the kingdom and their use for irrigation purposes.
