Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, continues its efforts in fostering peaceful coexistence and promoting human harmony, Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa has said.
The King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance Board of Trustees chairman stressed that safeguarding national sovereignty is key to sustainable peace.
On the occasion of International Day of Living Together in Peace, Dr Shaikh Abdulla expressed his pride and appreciation for the achievements of the Bahrain Defence Force, the National Guard, the Interior Ministry, and various civil authorities in confronting the malicious Iranian attacks.
He noted that these efforts represented a great example of determination and resolve in defending the kingdom, explaining that they constituted a civilised message of peace that history will preserve as a unique example of the triumph of the values of truth and justice, and a reflection of the exceptional ability to deter blatant aggression.
The minister highlighted the vision of the King, which has established a unifying framework for humanity based on embedding peace as a way of thinking and a way of life.
He noted that the King’s global initiatives, foremost among them the ‘Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration’ and the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance, embody a firm commitment to the foundations of living together and to the protection of religious freedoms without distinction or discrimination.
He called for mobilising international solidarity to confront complex crises and escalating conflicts, and to build the foundations of comprehensive peace in line with the purposes of the United Nations.
He emphasised that the kingdom’s message will always remain a model for the convergence of different religions and cultures within a framework of mutual respect.
Dr Shaikh Abdulla noted that the adoption of International Day of Peaceful Coexistence demonstrates the international community’s appreciation of Bahrain’s leadership in promoting harmony and fraternity among peoples, and reflects the kingdom’s distinguished global standing across various fields of humanitarian work.
The minister also referred to the constructive and innovative contributions by the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance to serving just causes and noble values, promoting a culture of dialogue and understanding, and advocating for the peaceful settlement of disputes.
He noted that the centre seeks to instil peace and coexistence among children and youth through education, training and capacity-building, and has become a living testament to respect for diversity and pluralism, and to the activation of mechanisms for co-operation and rapprochement, for a safer and more prosperous world.
