Riyadh: A Saudi man has been sentenced to 15 days in prison for defaming his wife.
The general court in Hafr Al-Baten ordered the convicted husband to be flogged seventy times in a public place for posting comments online, sullying her reputation.
The man initially denied defaming his wife before confessing when was faced with a technical report from the telecommunications company, reported local Arabic daily Al-Jazirah.
He then resorted to cyber laws to take revenge from his wife who refused any concession or reconciliation.
The Court of Appeals later dropped the jail sentence.
