Bahrain: Initial preparatory infrastructure work for Bahrain International Airport (BIA) development project has been completed. It includes demolition of old buildings, removal of all old cables and laying new underground cables.
Transportation and Telecommunication Minister Kamal Ahmed said second phase preparatory works are at their final stages. They include the relocation of some of Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company facilities, providing new staff car parks, construction of a main access security gate and setting up a new fire station.
“The work on development projects is expected to start in October.”
The budget estimate for various development and expansion projects at BIA is $1.1
billion. It is considered to be one of the most important projects under Gulf Development Fund.
Once completed, the new terminal will be able to handle 14 million passengers.
