BAHRAIN’S national team won the overall title in the World Mixed Martial Arts Championship, organised by the Serbian Mixed Martial Arts Federation, under the supervision of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), in the Serbian capital, Belgrade yesterday.
The national team fighters won first place overall, after collecting eight gold medals and a bronze in the adult category, with Isa Ramos winning in the 52.2kg category, Muhammad Shaykov winning another gold in the same division, Murat Ibrahimov the 61.2kg category, Sabrina de Souza winning in the 65.8kg division, Gurban Idrisov winning the 70.3kg, Ramadan Gentinov in the 77.1kg weight, Sultan Umarov the 83.9kg category, Rasul Mumediev and in the 120.1kg division.
The team also won a gold medal and two bronze medals in the youth category, with Ghazi Ghaziyev winning the 93kg category, while Muhammad Zuhair grabbed the bronze in the 56kg division and Muhammad Hussein in the 77.1kg category.
General Sports Authority (GSA) vice-chairman and Bahrain Combat Games Council chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa attended the final day of the tournament along with GSA CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar and other officials.
Shaikh Salman also participated in presenting medals to the winners.
