Muharraq and Riffa concluded their Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League campaign in style, securing easy wins in their final-round matches last night.
Muharraq secured a 3-1 victory over Al Hidd at the Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium. Sufyan Mahrouq put them ahead in the 21st minute while Abdulwahab Al Malood and Abdulla Al Khalasi extended the lead in the 30th and 45th minutes respectively. Thiago Augusto scored the only goal for Al Hidd in the 81st minute.
Meanwhile, Riffa claimed a dominant 7-0 victory over Budaiya at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium.
Amin Al Shanaineh netted twice for Riffa while Ali Hassan, Kamil Al Aswad, Adnan Fawaz, Saud Al Asam and Mauro Fernandez scored a goal each.
Last night’s victory raised Muharraq’s total to 40 points, while Riffa finished with 39.
Al Hidd suffered their ninth loss of the season and remain in seventh place with 27 points while Budaiya languish at the bottom of the table with just one victory.
Sitra will face Al Shabab in their final round match tonight, starting at 7pm.
Al Khaldiya and Manama will be vying for the title when they play their final round matches. Al Khaldiya need a victory against Bahrain Club to clinch the title while Manama can lift the cup if they manage to beat Al Ahli and Al Khaldiya lose in their final round clash.
