Sixteen student teams participated in Saudi's first-ever Formula 1 in Schools event at the King Abdulaziz Center for Culture.
Amongst the five regions represented at the three-day event were Al Ahsa, Riyadh, Madina, Jeddah and Dhahran, which bagged seven of the 13 national awards, Arab News reported.
The event highlighted F1 race car displays and discussion sessions led by experts as well as announced Saudi teams who will represent the kingdom in the Aramco F1 in Schools World Finals in Singapore later this year.
“F1 in Schools is a global educational programme that aims to raise awareness of STEM and Formula 1 among school students," an official statement said.
"Students are challenged and inspired through a STEM-based learning programme covering topics such as physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacturing, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/teamwork, media skills and financial strategy.
“The students will then apply what they learn in a practical, imaginative, exciting and competitive environment that echoes a scaled-down version of an F1 team.”
